F01 Error on Hotpoint Dishwashers

What the F01 error means on a Hotpoint dishwasher
The F01 error on Hotpoint dishwashers usually indicates that the anti-flood/anti-leak system has been activated. In practice, the appliance detects water in the base (lower area) and goes into protection mode to prevent overflow, so it may stop the cycle or remain draining.
The most common signs when F01 appears are:
- The dishwasher stops and does not allow the program to continue
- It may keep trying to drain as a safety measure
- The error reappears as soon as it is turned on if there is still water in the base
How to clear F01 and what to check so it does not come back
With F01, safety comes first: shut off the supplies, remove the water from the base, and find where it is coming from. If you do not fix the source, the error will return.
- Stop the appliance and shut off water and power
- Turn off the dishwasher
- Close the water supply valve
- Disconnect it from the power supply
- Check for water underneath the dishwasher
- Look for moisture on the floor, kickboard, or sides
- If you can access it without disassembly, inspect the inside of the base from the lower front area
- Dry it and let it air out (to reset the sensor)
- If there is water in the base, dry it as much as possible
- Leave the appliance unplugged for a while so any remaining moisture can evaporate
- Reconnect it and check whether F01 disappears
If the sensor “sees” water again, F01 will reappear immediately
- Find the most common cause of water getting into the base
- Check the door seal and lower edge for dirt or deformation
- Make sure the dishwasher is level (if it is tilted, it may encourage leaks)
- Inspect visible hoses and connections for dripping
- If the issue happened after cleaning with too much detergent, foam may cause false overflow detection
- When it is advisable to call a technician
- F01 comes back even though the base is dry
- You can clearly see dripping from hoses, the pump, or internal seals
- The appliance goes into protection mode every time you try to start it
In that case, the usual step is to inspect the anti-leak system (sensor/float) and the exact leak point so it can be properly repaired
F01 is a protection triggered by water in the base: it is resolved when the area is dried and, above all, when the leak or the source of that water buildup is corrected
