F02 Error on Hotpoint Dishwashers
Table of Contents
What the F02 error usually means on a Hotpoint dishwasher
The F02 error on Hotpoint dishwashers is usually related to a water inlet valve fault (fill valve). In practice, the appliance cannot manage water intake correctly and the program stops.
You will usually notice:
- It tries to start, but it does not fill or fills abnormally
- The cycle does not continue and ends up showing the code
- The fault appears at the beginning of the program, during filling
How to clear F02 and what to check so it does not come back
Although F02 usually points to the valve, it is worth ruling out external causes first, as they can produce the same symptom (closed tap, kinked hose, or blocked inlet filter).
- Stop the appliance and prepare for a quick check
- Turn off the dishwasher
- Close the water supply valve if you are going to handle the hose
- Check water supply and pressure
- Make sure the tap is fully open
- If there have been water cuts or low pressure, wait until conditions return to normal
- Inspect the inlet hose
- Check that it is not bent, crushed, or forced behind the cabinet
- Make sure it is not under tension at the connection point
- Clean the inlet filter
- With the tap closed, unscrew the hose
- Remove the mesh/filter and clean it (limescale and particles can block it easily)
- Reassemble it, open the tap, and check that there are no leaks
- Full reset and controlled test
- Leave the appliance unplugged for 5 minutes
- Reconnect it and test a short program while watching the start-up phase
- When it is advisable to call a technician
- F02 keeps appearing with the tap open, good pressure, and a clean filter
- The dishwasher never fills or always stops at the beginning
- The problem returns on every program
In that case, the inspection usually focuses on the water inlet valve and the related control system, because it is no longer an installation issue
If F02 was triggered by an inlet restriction, it is often solved by cleaning the filter and correcting the hose position. If it comes back with everything in order, the most efficient step is a technical diagnosis of the fill valve
