Hotpoint dishwasher error f03

F03 Error on Hotpoint Dishwashers

What the F03 error means on a Hotpoint dishwasher

The F03 error on Hotpoint dishwashers usually appears when the appliance detects a drainage fault or an exceeded drain time. In practical terms, the dishwasher tries to drain the water, but the water does not leave as it should and the cycle gets blocked.

The typical symptoms are:

  • There is water left in the bottom at the end or when the cycle stops
  • The program stops halfway through the cycle, just when trying to drain
  • You can hear the pump running, but the water does not go out or drains very slowly

How to clear F03 and what to check so it does not come back

With F03, most causes are blockages. If you clean everything properly and the flow is still poor, then it may be the pump or the household drain installation.

  1. Turn off the appliance and remove visible water if necessary
    • Turn off the dishwasher
    • If there is a lot of water, remove it with a container or sponge so you can work more comfortably
  2. Clean the internal filters
    • Remove the coarse and fine filters
    • Remove grease and debris with hot water and a soft brush
    • Put them back correctly, with no looseness
  3. Check the sump area for debris causing a blockage
    • Check for glass, bones, labels, or debris that may be restricting the flow
    • If the model allows it, make sure the path to the drain is not blocked
  4. Check the drain hose and the sink trap
    • Make sure the hose is not bent, crushed, or inserted too far into the drain pipe
    • Check the trap/installation: if the sink drains poorly, the dishwasher will too
  5. Run a drain test and observe its behaviour
    • Run a cancel/drain program if your model allows it
    • If the pump sounds “choked” or does not drain, the issue is usually an internal blockage or the pump itself
  6. When it is advisable to call a technician
    • F03 returns with clean filters and the house drain in good condition
    • The pump makes unusual noises or does not drain anything
    • The error always appears at the same point, regardless of the program

In that case, the usual inspection focuses on the drain pump, possible internal blockages, and the drainage circuit

F03 is usually resolved when the blockage in the filters, sump, or hose is removed. If it keeps coming back with everything clear, the most efficient step is to inspect the pump and drainage circuit to restore stable draining
