F11 Error on Hotpoint Dishwashers
Table of contents
What the F11 error means on a Hotpoint dishwasher
The F11 error on Hotpoint dishwashers is usually associated with a pump problem, normally the circulation pump (the one that pushes water to the spray arms) or its control system. When the machine detects that circulation is not happening as it should, it may stop the cycle to avoid ineffective washing or possible damage.
The typical symptoms are usually:
- The appliance fills, but the wash sounds “strange” and the dishes come out poorly cleaned
- It stops halfway through the program and shows the code
- There does not seem to be enough pressure in the spray arms
How to clear F11 and what to check to prevent it from coming back
With F11, it is advisable to first rule out restrictions that reduce circulation (filters and spray arms). If the error persists, it usually requires a technical diagnosis of the pump/circuit.
- Complete power reset
- Turn off the dishwasher
- Disconnect it from the power supply for 5 minutes
- Reconnect it and test a short cycle
- Clean the filters and sump area
- Remove the coarse and fine filters and clean them with hot water
- Remove visible debris from the bottom (glass, bones, labels)
- Put the filters back correctly in place
- Check spray arms and loading
- Make sure the spray arms rotate freely and do not hit the dishes
- Clean the holes if you see limescale or dirt
- Avoid blocking rotation with tall plates or trays
- Run a controlled test
- Use a short program with half load
- If F11 comes back in the same way, the problem is usually in the pump/control and not in the load
- When it is advisable to call technical support/a technician
- F11 reappears after reset and cleaning the filters/spray arms
- Circulation seems non-existent or pressure is always very low
- The appliance stops halfway through the cycle repeatedly
In that case, the circulation pump, capacitor/start system (if applicable), connections, and related control module should be checked
If F11 was caused by poor circulation due to dirty filters or blocked spray arms, it is usually solved with cleaning. If it keeps coming back with everything clean, the most efficient solution is a technical inspection of the pump to restore washing pressure
