F15 Error on Hotpoint Dishwashers
Table of contents
What the F15 error usually means on a Hotpoint dishwasher
The F15 error on Hotpoint dishwashers usually corresponds to a “virtual sensor” fault. In practice, the appliance uses internal readings (related to circulation, pressure, and hydraulic operation) to estimate whether the wash cycle is happening as it should. When those readings do not match, the dishwasher goes into protection mode and displays F15.
It is common to see it like this:
- The appliance starts, but shortly after it stops with the code
- It remains pumping or trying to correct the operation
- The error appears repeatedly at the same stage of the cycle
How to clear F15 and what to check so it does not come back
With F15, it is advisable to first rule out circulation restrictions (filters and spray arms). If everything is clean and the fault persists, it will usually require technical inspection.
- Complete power reset
- Turn off the dishwasher
- Unplug it from the power supply for 5 minutes
- Plug it back in and test a short program
- Clean the filters and check the sump area
- Remove the fine and coarse filters and clean them thoroughly
- Remove any debris from the bottom that could affect water flow
- Reinstall the filters correctly
- Check the spray arms and the load
- Make sure the arms rotate freely
- Clear the holes if there is limescale or dirt
- Avoid letting the dishes block the rotation
- Run a half-load test
- Use a short program with the dishwasher half loaded
- If F15 disappears like this, it is usually related to load, blockage, or poor circulation
- When it is advisable to call technical support/a technician
- F15 returns after reset and cleaning
- The appliance always stops at the same stage
- You notice weak wash pressure or irregular hydraulic operation
In that case, the technician usually checks circulation, pumps/associated sensors, and the control electronics, because the system is detecting inconsistent internal readings
F15 can be triggered by poor circulation (filters/spray arms), but if it keeps repeating with everything clean, the most efficient solution is a technical diagnosis to locate the real cause of the fault
