What the F01 error usually means on a Hotpoint dryer

The F01 error on Hotpoint dryers is usually associated with a main control board fault. In practice, the appliance may become locked, may not allow option selection, or may fail to start the cycle because the control detects an internal anomaly and goes into protection mode.

The most common signs are:

• The dryer does not start even when you press start
• Some functions cannot be selected or the panel responds intermittently
• The code appears after a power interruption or a sudden power reconnection

How to clear F01 and what to check before calling a technician

With F01, the most useful thing is to rule out a temporary control lock-up and make sure the power supply is stable. If the error comes back, it is usually already an electronic issue.

1. Complete power reset
   • Turn off the dryer
   • Unplug it and wait at least 2 minutes
   • Plug it back in, wait 30 seconds, and try again

   This “real” reset is the first step to clear frozen states from the module

2. Check the outlet and avoid power strips
   • Plug it into a direct wall outlet, without adapters or extensions
   • If the socket is loose or has poor contact, try another outlet
   • If there are frequent power interruptions, the issue may happen again
3. Run a simple test
   • Select a short cycle and start it
   • If F01 appears immediately, it is usually a persistent control fault
4. When it is advisable to call technical service/a technician
   • F01 reappears after the complete reset
   • The panel still does not respond or does not allow program selection
   • The error always appears when switching on or starting a cycle

   In that case, the usual step is to check the main control board and its connections, because the dryer is detecting a real internal anomaly

If F01 was only a temporary lock-up, it may disappear after the complete reset. If it returns frequently, the most efficient solution is a module diagnosis to correct the cause and avoid recurring stoppages
