Teka ceramic hob blitz error

Blitz Message on Teka Ceramic Hobs

Why the “Blitz” message appears on a Teka ceramic hob

The “Blitz” warning on a Teka ceramic hob usually appears when the system detects a continuous touch on the touch control panel for several seconds. To protect the control and prevent unintended activation, the hob stops responding and locks until the cause of that “permanent press” is removed.

The most common reason is not a “power” fault, but something very specific on the control area:

  • Water, liquid, or moisture on the sensors (spills, built-up steam, recent cleaning).
  • An object resting on the control (lid, tray, cloth, container, utensils).
  • Accidental pressure from the edge of a pot, a handle touching the touch area, or a cloth caught near the controls.
  • Conductive residue (grease/cleaner film) that “tricks” the touch panel and simulates a press.

In short: “Blitz” is not a zone error code. It’s a sign the control believes someone (or something) is holding the panel pressed longer than allowed.

How to clear “Blitz” and what habits to review so it doesn’t return

The fix is usually quick if the cause is moisture or objects on the controls. Follow this order and don’t skip steps:

  1. Remove any object and fully clear the touch panel
    • Remove cloths, lids, trays, or utensils resting near the controls.
    • Make sure no handle or pot edge is touching the control area.
  2. Dry and clean the control area as if it were a “sensor”
    • Wipe with a soft cloth slightly dampened, then dry thoroughly.
    • Avoid products that leave a film (if you used one, wipe again with a clean cloth and dry).
    • If there was a spill, also clean the glass edge/trim so no moisture remains trapped.

Many times the message disappears as soon as you remove the water or residue that is “simulating” the touch.

  3. Wait a few seconds, then try switching on again
    • Once dry, wait 20–30 seconds before touching the panel again.
    • Try a normal start-up, without placing anything near the controls.
  4. If it won’t clear, perform a short power reset
    • Switch off the hob circuit breaker.
    • Wait 1 minute.
    • Restore power and try again with the panel completely dry.
  5. If it returns, check what “pattern” triggers it
    • Does it happen right after cleaning? Then it’s almost always residual moisture or cleaner film.
    • Does it happen when boiling or cooking with lots of steam? Improve extraction and avoid steam hitting the controls.
    • Does it happen only with a specific pot? Check whether the handle or rim gets too close to the touch area.
  6. When it makes sense to call a technician
    • “Blitz” appears with the panel dry, no objects present, and keeps returning.
    • The touch panel reacts by itself, activates without touching, or behaves as if it’s “pressed” while clean.
    • The issue worsens and the hob becomes difficult to use normally.

In those cases, there may be a fault in the touch module itself or internal moisture/infiltration causing phantom touches.

In most cases, “Blitz” is resolved by clearing the panel and removing moisture or residue. If it repeats with no obvious external cause, the most efficient approach is to focus diagnosis on the touch control to prevent recurring lockouts.
