Error 105 on Hisense TVs
Table of contents
What error 105 usually means on a Hisense TV
On some Hisense TVs, “error 105” is linked to a DNS resolution problem: the TV is connected to the network, but can’t translate the site/service name into an IP address, so pages or preinstalled apps won’t load. This matches browser messages such as net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED (-105).
A very common pattern is:
- Netflix/Prime may work, but the browser or other system apps fail.
- The error appears when creating an account or opening services that rely on a specific domain.
- Wi-Fi shows as “connected,” but web content stays blank or returns 105/(-105).
How to fix 105 step by step
Because 105 typically points to DNS, the most effective approach is to tackle router + DNS + saved network in this order:
- Full power cycle (TV + router)
- Unplug the TV for 60 seconds.
- Unplug the router for 30–60 seconds, then power it back on.
- Once the router is stable, turn the TV on.
- Forget Wi-Fi and reconnect from scratch
- Remove the saved network and enter the password again.
- If you can, avoid “mixed” networks and try the 2.4 GHz band if 5 GHz is weak (or vice versa).
- Change DNS (the key point for 105)
- If your Hisense allows it, set manual DNS (for example 1.1.1.1 / 8.8.8.8).
- If it doesn’t, change DNS on the router (this affects all devices).
- The ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED error is specifically associated with name resolution (DNS) failures.
- Test with an Ethernet cable (to rule out Wi-Fi)
- Connect directly to the router via Ethernet and repeat the browser/app test.
- If it works over cable, the issue was Wi-Fi stability or interference.
- Update the TV system
- Check for a firmware update in Settings.
- With “odd” network errors (only some apps), an update can fix network libraries or certificates.
- Reset network settings / factory reset (only if it still persists)
- First, reset network settings (if that option exists).
- If nothing works, do a factory reset.
If the error you see is literally net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED (-105) inside the TV browser, it almost always goes away once you fix DNS (manual on the TV or on the router) and rebuild the saved connection.
